Since I was a young woman I have wanted to travel, to visit far off countries, experience different cultures, and see how other people live. I like connecting with people, one on one. And you know what? We are all the same, in the things that matter. Language, clothes, and customs may be different but we can connect, person to person, heart to heart. We are all part of this big human community. Each of us has a story to tell. Each of us is special. These stories are part of every photograph I take. They are given in trust. As a photographer, I work to record these stories with honesty and respect. By sharing our stories, we can learn much from each other.

From reading books with a flashlight, late at night under the bed covers as a little girl, to authoring my own, I have always loved books. The feel of the paper, the smell of the ink on the page, the excitement I feel when I open the cover, knowing I am going to discover something wonderful, are all part of what I love. Books are a gift. We explore new worlds in books. We can visit them anytime, over and over. We come to know the people, the communities, the animals who live within the pages.
